Privacy Policy
Longview is built privacy-first for a simple reason: your cruise data is your livelihood and your clients' confidential business. This policy explains, in plain terms, the three kinds of data involved and exactly what happens to each.
- Your project data stays on your device. We never upload it, receive it, or store it.
- The only thing that leaves your device automatically is what's needed to check your subscription — your account email and a device identifier.
- Anonymous usage/diagnostic data is optional and off by default. It's collected only if you turn it on, and it never includes your project data.
Bucket 1 — Your Project Data (stays on your device, always)
This includes everything you create and work with in Longview:
- tree measurements, plots, volumes, grades, and computed values;
- client and tract names and identifiers;
- plot GPS / location data;
- reference tables (species, sort/grade, price, and rules).
We do not collect, upload, receive, transmit, or store any of it. It lives on your computer or mobile device. It leaves your device only when you deliberately export or share it (for example, exporting a report or a project file that you then send somewhere). Where it goes after you export it is up to you.
Bucket 2 — Account & License Data (the minimum to run your subscription)
So your subscription works across your devices, the Apps contact our licensing server. This involves:
- your account email (how your subscription is identified — no password);
- a device identifier and basic device info (type, name you give it, platform, app version);
- your subscription status (plan, seats, active/expired).
We use this only to activate your devices, verify your subscription, manage your seats, and support you. Payments are handled by Paddle, our Merchant of Record — Paddle collects and processes payment details under its own privacy policy; we do not see or store your full card details. Our licensing service runs on Cloudflare infrastructure.
Retention. We keep Account & License Data only while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward to meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our Terms. On account closure or your written request, we delete or anonymize it within a reasonable time, except where the law requires us to keep it.
Bucket 3 — Optional Usage & Diagnostic Data (opt-in, off by default)
To improve Longview, we may — only if you turn it on — collect anonymous information about how the app is used and about errors:
- What it includes: feature/screen usage events, app version and operating system, and error/crash diagnostics — tied to a random install identifier, not to you personally.
- What it never includes: any Project Data (Bucket 1). No measurements, values, client or tract names, GPS coordinates, or file names/contents. Crash reports are limited to a safe, pre-approved set of technical fields so your project data cannot leak into them.
- Your control: it is off unless you enable it, and you can turn it off again at any time in settings.
- No ad tracking: we do not use third-party advertising or tracking SDKs, and we do not build advertising profiles.
We do not sell your data
We do not sell, rent, or trade any of your data, and we have not done so. We share the limited Account & License Data only with the service providers needed to run the subscription (payment processing by Paddle; licensing infrastructure hosting), and only for that purpose.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards to protect the Account & License Data we handle. No system is perfectly secure, and you are responsible for securing your own devices, where your Project Data lives. If we become aware of a security breach affecting your Account & License Data, we will notify affected users without unreasonable delay and in accordance with applicable law.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete the Account & License Data we hold, and to know how it's used. We do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising any privacy right.
- Turn optional usage/diagnostic data on or off anytime.
- Export your Project Data anytime, including after a subscription lapses.
- Request access to, correction of, or deletion of the Account & License Data associated with your email: Admin@longviewcruise.com.
Children
Longview is a professional business tool and is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
We may update this policy; we'll post the new effective date and, for material changes, notify subscribers.
